Michelle’s Running Adventures!

Every Run is an Adventure – some just take longer than others 🙂
Heres some of mine current ones..

Seemed like a good idea…

I very recently signed up with a couple of great running coaches in the Netherlands – Marlies and Baz from the 9Miler method. The main differences with their method of training and others is that they believe age group runners (like me) don’t need to train the long long distances to run a marathon – in fact they teach you to run just 9 miles (around 15k) as your longest training run. How can they do this? Well theres a number of layers, including heart rate training, interval work, strength exercises and nutritian.

Why am I tell you this?
They’ve challenged a few of their students (including me) to run 60k at Easter!
Anyone who knows me, knows I love a challenge! Especially a physical one 🙂At the time of writing this Good Friday is just over 4 weeks awat, I’ve not run further than 21k since 2016 (my last full marathon), I’ve had problems with my iron levels in the last 6 months and I’ve only just started trying to run at a lower heart rate..
What could go wrong? LOLWith all that being said, I’m really looking forward to the run – training for it, planning the course and eating a couple of Easter eggs guilt free on Easter Sunday :p
Over the Easter period there will be 9Milers in USA, the Netherlands, UK, Curacao (Caribbean) and Tassie all attemping the challenge. There’s no time goals per se – the aim is to cover the distance while keeping your heart rate in your ultra marathon rate (which is personal to each of us).I will be journalling and doing videos as I go through some of the training and on run day. You can keep up with my progress on the new FitMIND FitBODY Facebook group. I’ll also be giving tips etc to help you get and keep moving 🙂Hopefully this will help keep me on track and inspire you to take on a challenge or two in your life! When you do let me know, I’d love to support you 🙂 Or if you’re new to the exercise thing let me give you a challenge now – join the FitMIND FitBODY 7 day Get Moving Challenge (see below), and I’ll help you get started and keep going.Join the Facebook Group

The 9Miler way had been on my radar for a couple of years, but after a terrible racing season for me in 2020 (low iron), I decided to jump on board with them. I plan to run for at least the next 40-50 years – time to learn more about keeping my body fit and moving 🙂
